CLEAR.com offers no contract unlimmited 4G wireless internet service
for less than $200 to start plus $45 per month. The same as Sprint, it
is slower than Verizon/ATT. But even if it is only 3Mbps, it will be
fast as basic DSL for $20 month and will breath life into my iPhone
too. That plus a prepaid SIM for cheap calling.

Bash it if you want, but I intend to risk the $200 and find out. Their
selection process is obscure, you must select the device before you
see month to month plans.

Besides connection issues caused by your location, the only other beef
I see (through this crippled research tool called an iPhone) is being
throttled after 20 gigabytes.

If it comes to pass, I will post the experience.

The issue is location. If you're static, and have a tower nearby, it's
fine. If you're mobile, then good luck because their coverage is not
good.

There are reviews and advertising on YouTube. When watching, if it
looks like spam, I close the vid and look for "No Comments". Probably
a clue that it is spam.

Are you speaking of moving mobile as in driving?

That's "area" specific. Clear isn't bad (sometimes *the* best) in some
areas for moving mobile use. They are in the same boat as cell providers
a few years ago.

http://www.clear.com/coverage is fairly accurate, just zoom in on your
area. I'd rather see a professional-level signal-level survey map, but
that's because I've used those for years.

Look at Seattle area afterwards, and you'll see why Clear is taking a
lot of VZW's moving mobile 4G business users away here. For them,
coverage is more important that data costs.

I'm on VZW 3G for my netbook and don't use it much, and seldom as moving
mobile, but I've been involved with "moving mobile" data since the first
"Mobile Data Terminals" went into cop cars.

FWIW, VZW still is usually the best at having coverage for voice or data
in the boonies in this area.
