Chassis Fan

Not sure if this the right NG but maybe someone out there can help.
I'm working in a part of Africa where heat and dust is a major problem.
I've noticed that there is a grille and mounting holes at the back of the
case which seems to be for a chassis fan.
Can I use the fan from an old, clapped-out ATX PSU i.e. on a M/B with a
2-pin chassis fan connector with 12V & Ground /

Many Thanks
Mandy

You would be better off using a 4 pin molex connector with just the 2
wires. However you can use it if the connector on the MB says
for chassis fan.

The size of fan that fits a case would likely be 90 or even
120 mm and run on 12 vdc. These fans are not expensive.
You can see examples from one supplier www.antec-inc.com .

Be sure that you make the air flow in at the lower front and
out the back. It can be useful to put a clear plastic cover
on the case (temporarily, because the closed metal case
block electromagnetic fields- radio/TV interference) and
watch the air-flow with a little colored smoke.

If it is really hot, you might consider a liquid cooling
system.
