Character-string prefixes for page numbers--how to display in TOC?

We have several sections in a document and want to have text prefixes in
front of the page numbers (such as Downtown-22 or DTWN-45) instead of just a
single letter or number (such as D-22 or S-45). But how do we get these text
prefixes to show up in the main Table of Contents? In other words, we want
to create a variable to put in front of the page number and then insert a
switch in the TOC so that the variable displays there too. Can anyone help?
Thanks!

The TOC will pick up only a "number" or label that is part of the page
number. Unless you can somehow make this label part of the "chapter
numbering," I don't think you can do this automatically. See
