How can I change the name, which is entered during the installation of
Windows XP SP2?

It's not from user accounts in control panel, I've tried it (too easy).
It's not from computer name in system properties.(too easy)

I'm talking about, the one, where there is the folder Document and Settings,
where we have, All Users, Default User and the <name> User, which I'm trying
to change.

Regards,

Mike

You can change the account name, which will change on the welcome screen,
but it WONT change the name of the folder there that account's stuff is
kept - that remains what it was originally named, no matter what. If you
really must get it changed, make a new account and then migrate your stuff
over to it, delete the old one.

[Yes, you can putz around in the reg; it's not for the faint of heart,
google around for it if you must, it's out there... as always, backup
first just in case it goes awry...]

There isn't a simple method for changing the name of the user's profile
folder. When I had to do this I did the following (since you already
renamed the user account to what you wanted it to be, I'd probably rename it
back to the old account):

- Used the File & Settings Transfer Wizard to back up the settings to a
folder somewhere (like c:\profilebackup).
- Created the new user account named whatever I wanted.
- Logged out and logged back in as that new user.
- Ran the File & Settings Transfer Wizard again to import the profile
settings into the new account.
- Deleted the old account and renamed the old profile folder to something
else (I left it around in case there was anything funky that was left behind
that the user needed). After a week or two I whacked the old profile
folder.

Open the run command by clicking Start >> Run and type in:
regedit.exe click [OK] or Hit Enter on your Keyboard.
On the Registry Editor locate the Key Mentioned like this:
[-] HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current
Version\RegisteredOwner = and change the Name to what you have in Mind

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\RegisteredOrganization = change to whatever name you want
like workgroup for ex.
then after finish close the Registry and Reboot the machine.
Also by Right click My Computer and select properties then click Computer
name Tab.
HTH.
Let us know.

To fix the "Registered to" information for WinNT/2K/XP, you can use
Start > Run > Regedit.exe to edit:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\RegisteredOwner

and:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current
Version\RegisteredOrganization

How this will affect the name displayed in previously installed
applications will vary depending upon each individual program; some read
the registered owner information dynamically, while others read it only
during their installation.

Forgot to add:

The user profile folders (C:\Documents and Settings\Username)
_cannot_ be renamed, even if the associated user account has been. So,
your best course of action would be to log on using the built-in
Administrator account, create a new user account, with the username
desired. You can then delete the old user account(s).

You can't really change the name of that folder directly but there is a way
to get it done. Create a new account with the name you want, login to it at
least once, then copy the data/settings from the old account to the new.
Use the new account. If all seems well then delete the old account.
