Changing the text color of my desktop icons

A long time ago I had a very dark background on my desktop, and I found a way
to change the text color of my desktop icons to white...now I want to change
it back to black, and I can't for the life of me remember how I did it?

Anyone know how?

Bring up your display properties window, select the appearance tab, then
click the advanced button, select icon from the item dropdown and change the
color

The color is a function of the background color.If you select a light
background then you will get black text.

There are no color options under Icon.
Font size, bold and italic are the options for icon test.

That didn't work - I changed my background to white and my text is still white.

Thanks but there is no option for color in there, only font and size...

I found the answer in another newsgroup:

If you have the "use drop shadows" box checked then your font will always be
white no matter what the background is.
