Changing the size of Toolbar Icons

A

Anna

I would like to know if there is any way of fixing the
following problem.

The laptop I am attempting to customise is one with the
new 15.7" Wide Screens with a resolution maximum setting
of 1920x1200 pixels. The owner of the laptop is running
XP professional and we have managed to get everything
displaying pretty close to the way we want it to. There
is a small problem in that at this resolution, everthing
is SO small. If the resolution is set lower, then clarity
is lost even though things appear larger.

so, we want to keep the clarity (ie maintain the highest
resolution) but want to increase the size of some things.
This we have been able to do but there are two problems.

1. MS Office product (Word, Excel etc) toolbars can be
customised to use large icons. This makes the icons
bigger but unfortunately not as "nice and clear looking".
Is there some size between small icons (which are too
tiny) and large icons (which are just plain ugly).

2. MSSQL server tools such as Query Analyser do not have
a Large Icons setting anywhere and as such the toolbar
icons remain tiny no matter what I try. Is there a way
around this?

Other (non MS products) have slightly similar problems.
I'm starting to believe that the applications have simply
not caught up with the new large screen high resolutions.
(on the other hand, 21 inch and 19 inch screens have been
around for a while now so I would have thought this may
have come up already)

Thanks in advance to anyone who can either provide a
solution or even just let me know that it cannot be done
and then I can stop wasting my time trying.

Have you tried using a higher DPI setting? (Get to it via Display Properties
\ Settings tab \ Advanced button.) While it is not perfect, it will try to
upsample as much as possible.

1. As far as I know, the answer is no.

2. Query Analyzer does not have a Large Icons setting.
