Changing the protected sheet tab order

I have a sheet in which most cells are protected, but the
unprotected cells are logically in columns. However, Excel
tabs by rows when the sheet is protected.

Can i change the tab order to columns.
 
If you are talking about the cursor goes down to the next cell, try setting
the Tools>Options>Edit "move selection after Enter" selection to "right".
