Changing the positions of certain sheets in excel

I have a long worksheet consisting of 20 smaller sheets. These are arranged
verically. What is the simplest way to be able to change the positions of
some of the sheets e.g. sheet 13 should replace sheet 9, but sheet 9 should
not be lost completely because it needs to go to another vertical sequence.
Similarly, two more sheets have to change their position, withoutv losing the
sheets that they will replace?

Thank you

If I understand your question correctly, then you can right click on a
sheet tab and choose Move or Copy.

Workbooks are comprised of any number of worksheets.

The worksheets are not arranged vertically, rather horiziontally.

What exactly is your layout and what do you wish to achieve?

The worksheet tabs are horizontal, but you can also build up a vertical
continuous sheet, consisting of a number of pages or sheets, by copying and
pasting any number of sheets below the very first sheet---in my case 20. One
advantage of this method rather than horizontal is that the page numbering
becomes easier.
I would like to replace say sheet 9 of 20 by sheet 16 of 20, without losing
sheet 9 of 20, because then that would need to go elsewhere in the big
worksheet. Similarly, say I would like to bring sheet 19 of 20 in place of
sheet 4 of 20 without losing sheet 4. This changing of places of sheets may
be required for technical reasons based upon the work I am doing My question
was if there is an effective and simple way to do this?
