Changing Startup/Shutdown screens

I've been a long time Win98 user before upgrading to XP. During that time
with 98 I've accumulated several desktop themes and startup/shutdown screens.
I'd like to use the old desktop theme startup/shutdown screens in XP.

Is there a way the change these screens in XP? If so, what type of file is
used, and what size and resolution is used?
