Changing standard font

Hi

I have computer with Windows XP and Office XP. In Excel I
try to change the default font in Tools - Options -
General and change the font in Standard font. I restart
Excel as requested. When I open Excel again, the font is
back like it was. Do I need more user rights than I have
or have I missed something in settings?

When you re-open Tools, Options, General is the Standard Font name changed?
 
It is again the same as it was before I tried to change
it.

I have seen reports of changes to options not being restored but I do not
know what causes it. It would seem that the options are not being saved to
the registry or not being read when Excel reopens but why this would happen
I can only speculate. Maybe someone else knows...
