My .Net passport id is an email address that I no longer use. My .Net profile
has the correct address. Is there any reason to change the id? If so, then
how?

..Net Passport Member Services: http://memberservices.passport.net/

Go to Start/Run and type in: control userpasswords2. Advanced/Manage
Passwords/Remove.

Tip:

Add Control Userpasswords2 to the Control Panel (Line 1)

You don't understand. I am registered with Microsoft .Net as (e-mail address removed).
That is the id stored in my computer and at Microsoft. I don't use
(e-mail address removed) as my email address anymore. I now use (e-mail address removed). My .Net
profile has (e-mail address removed) as my email address. When I sign into .Net I must use
(e-mail address removed). Is there any reason to change it other than convenience?

None. It is purely a label to allow access to the passport
