Changing Navigation structure to existing site/front page 2003

Please help, I would like to change the new site I created to have a vertical
navigation bar on all pages. I need some help as to what setting I should
have in the navigation bar properties. Nothing fancy, just have all the pages
under my home page, so that no matter what page you are on the bar appears
the same on all. I tried reading the help section and got lost, I just need
to know what boxes to check.
As always thank you in advance
Jim

This is for FP2003, previous versions may be a little different. This
also assumes that you have a completed navigation view, and are using
FrontPage navigation components.

To insert a navigation bar into a page:

Open the web, then open or create the page.

Insert->Navigation
Select Link Bars in left column
Select Bar based on navigation structure in right column
Click Next
Click Use Page's Theme - if you choose a different theme, or click the
theme used on the page, you will get text links on the published site,
not the theme buttons you would expect.

Click Next
Select the layout for the buttons/links - the right hand icon is for
vertical bar
Click Finish
Select the level you need, and tick Home if you want a link to the Home
page.
http://www.rxs-enterprises.org/tests/navigation/fp-navbars.aspx
describes the various levels.

Click OK

To place the navigation in all pages, either:

Place the link bar in a Dynamic Web Template and attach the template to
all pages

Place the link bar in an include file, and include the file in all pages

Place the link bar in the left or right shared border. (I do not
recommend shared borders).

Ronx, thanks so much, I was experimenting with this method. I have one more
question if I may,I am creating a site and used the shared borders structure,
I would like to have all the links on all the pages on the left side of all
the pages including the home page. I am unsure as to what boxes to check to
make this happen in the Navigation Bar properties (child level, home page,
parent page). I'm using the old tutorial from 2000
Also when I got the automated response in my email to view the response,
when I clicked on either link, all I got was a blank page. Is there someone
to report this to?
Once again thank you for your help
Jim

Once you have decided on what level of links to display - Children Under
Home, Child Pages, etc., then also tick the checkbox labelled "Include
Home Page" in the properties.
The navigation dialogues have changed very little since FP2000.

I have no idea where you report bugs on the FrontPage forums. I use the
newsgroup interface.

Thank you very much, I missed checking one box. Also the bug is fixed,t he
link on the automated email is working.
