Greetings --
Product Keys are bound to the specific type and language of
CD/license (OEM, Volume, retail, full, or Upgrade) with which they are
purchased. For example, a WinXP Home OEM Product Key won't work for
any retail version of WinXP Home, or for any version of WinXP Pro, and
vice versa. An upgrade's Product Key cannot be used with a full
version CD, and vice versa. An OEM Product Key will not work to
install a retail product. An Italian Product Key will not work with
an English CD. Product Keys and CDs cannot be mixed & matched.
Have you considered the glaringly obvious solution -- replacing
your broken CD?

no actually the problem is this, i bought a win xp upgrade cd which
is now broken. I used my friends windows xp full installation (not
upgrade) cd and his reg code. I cant use my reg code with his cd for
some reason says invalid reg key. Now my windows update wont work
vcause its his cd key not mine. i cant fix this unless i spend another
100 bucks for another upgrade cd??????? BS if im giving MS any more
money than i already have. and no its not an OEM cd just the upgrade.
