Changing from dual boot to a single drive

I have two 40gig hard drives on my machine and drive C: has WindowsME
on it. When XP Pro came out the decision was made to dual boot until
we felt like XP Pro was stable enough to use and not have to rely on
WindowsME. We've now reached the point that we've used about
two-thirds of our WindowsXP Pro drive and would like to transfer all
files, programs and settings to a 120gig hard drive. I've been told
that once you decide to dual boot you can't do what I'd like to do. In
another instance in reading michaelstevens.com web site it would
appear I could make the WindowsXP have its own boot capability. I need
advice on how to go about this and would appreciate constructive help.
Thanks,
Bob

are you going to transfer WinXP to new drive or just application files?
What HDD configuration are you seeking?
What OS are you going to use?
You said you're dual booting now? ME/XP?
Need to describe your goal better.

XP boot files need to be on C and XP on D.
You could create a small C and use the rest for D.
You would clone the old D to the new D.
If you want XP on C, then reinstall XP.

I have a second machine with a 120gig hard drive that I intend to
install WindowsXP Pro SP2 streamlined (I hope it works), it is
networked to the dual boot machine and wondered if after I get the OS
installed if I couldn't go to File and Setting Transfer Wizard and
transfer all the stuff from the XP portion of the dual boot to the new
machine. Will that work or am I just whistling Dixie???
Thanks,
Bob
