Changing Folder Permissions from Read Only

Help,
We are having a problem removing read-only property from
An Oracle folder. The OS is XP-PRO. The version of Oracle
is 9i. Any help would bew greatly appreciated.

The read-only attribute on folders in XP is only
visible by use of the cmdline "attrib" command.
It can be changed by use of this same command.
The checkbox in the UI within folder properties
is a switch used to set/unset the attribute on the
contained files.
