Changing -> File, properties, Summary (A Repost)

Hi,

As mentioned in the subject please note this is a repost. I tried the
solution given by Bob P but couldnt get it to work.( I might have
misinterpreted Bob's solution)

I want to change the Company and Manager Name in all the excel files I will
be creating in future to "Koysa" and "Jim Dale" respectively.

Presently my old company name is getting displayed and Iam forced to
manually change it to the new names.

Bob asked me to do this "Create a workbook template and set the properties
of that to your company name."

I opened a new workbook and In file properties, Summary manually changed it
to new names and saved the workbook as a Template.

Still if I open any create any new workbooks I m getting old names. Please
tell me if I have not misunderstood Bob's suggestions.

you have to save it as book.xlt in your template folder to overwrite
the standard workbook template

Did you save that file as a template called Book.xlt?

Hi Bob and Frank,

Last time when I tried it I saved it as Book.xlt in my desktop.

This time as Frank suggested I went about saving it in Template folder.

I have Win 2000 and I searched for Template folder and found 2 such folders
in the following places

--> C:\Documents and Settings\hprasadh\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates

--> C:\Documents and Settings\hprasadh\Templates

I saved Book.xlt ( after changing to new names) in both the above locations
as I didnt know which of them is the actual templates folder.

But even after doing that If I open a new workbook the changes arent getting
reflected.

Please tell me as to where am going wrong. ( I have tried restarting excel
but sadly it doesnt work..)

Hari,

On my machine, XP, that is, it is the XLStart directory

c:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\XLStart

The file may have to be created anew if it does not exist.

Hi Bob,

Thanx a lot for pointing me in the right direction.

I searched for xlstart in my computer and found it in

C:\Documents and Settings\hprasadh\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART

and once I saved a Book.xlt there I could get going smoothly.
