Changing Fields Displayed on Forms (outlook 2003)

I would like to modify which fields are displayed on the "General" tab
of the contacts in a public contacts folder. I have added a couple of
user defined fields, and changed the names of a couple of others. I
was able to change the display of this tab on one of the records by
openning the record and then modifying the form under
Tools/Forms/Design This Form. But this only seems to change it for
that particular record.

I think what I need to do is access View/Current View to select
different fields, but this is greyed out for me as this is a public
folder on a server which does not give me access.

Is there any other way to just change which fields are displayed on the
"General" tab of every contact in a public contact folder? Thanks!

I am assuming you mean the "General" tab on the contacts form.

If so:

1) Changing the "General" tab of the contacts form, will cause that
form to revert to Outlook 2000's look and feel. The look and feel of
the general tab of the contacts form in Outlook 2003 is generated at
run time and will be "broken" if you modify the general tab in ANY way.

2) >>I think what I need to do is access View/Current View to select
different fields
View/Current View ONLY allows you to specify which fields of the
current item type will be displayed in Outlook's Explorer pane. This
is different and separate from the general tab of a contact form.

3) What you are wanting is going to require making a custom form,
publishing that custom form, then changing all the existing items to
use that custom form.

Thanks! I think I understanding making a custom form and publishing
it. How do I change all existing items to use the custom form? Do I
have to go into each item and make a change, or can I just tell the
folder to use the new custom form for all items in that folder? Thanks!
