Changing Email drop-down doesn't change "Display As"

S

Stephen Morgan

In Outlook 2003, I've created a Contacts Form and successfully published
it to the Personal Forms Library, but I've mucked something up. When I
add a second or third email address to the contact, and press the "down"
button to show E-mail 2 or E-mail 3, the new email addresses show the
changes, but the "Display As" stays showing the first E-mail address.
Any hints please?

That's apparently one of many things lost when the first page is customized. I've added it to the list at http://www.outlookcode.com/article.aspx?id=21. FWIW, the user can still modify E-mail 2 Display Name and E-mail 3 Display Name on the All Fields page.

Sue,
Thanks for your speedy response - I thought I had broken a link
somewhere and I was tearing my hair out! Do you know if this has been
fixed in Office/Outlook 2007? I know there's another bug - when you drag
your custom form onto the "New Message to Contact", it does not open up
a new email - has that been fixed too? Just curious - thanks for all
your ongoing help - I'm sure many many people are grateful for your
assistance - I know I am!!

The display issue works the same in Outlook 2007. Dragging a custom form item to Mail does create a new email.

Custom forms are essentially dead-end technology. Expect no improvements. They may not survive Outlook 14. Form regions are the way future applications will handle forms.

Hi Sue, I appreciate all the help I get too. Thanks

About custom forms, you stated that they may not survive OL 14 form regions
is the future. Questions, '03 = OL11, '07 = OL12.
Is it fair to say that OL14 is almost a decade away, or at least 6 years.

OL14 is the next version. Microsoft is already in the planning stage for it, so it's probably less than 3 years away.

I take it there is no office 13?

Got it.
