Changing default email program

DL

I'm having trouble making Outlook my default email program. It does not
appear as an option in setting default programs even though it's definitely a
registered program. And Windows Mail cannot be uninstalled since it's part of
the OS.
Can anyone help?
Thanks,
DL

That does not seem to work since outlook does not appear as an option. It
says I have to change it in the registry, but I don't know how to do that.
Does anyone know how to make sure outlook is in the registry?

People more often seem to have the problem with Outlook taking over the
default...
It may be easier to reinstall Outlook.
