changing copy letters

When I scan a document to go to word, it changes some of the documents
letters and it looks like symbols or other letters. It even changed square
symbals to circles on the document. Using Word 2007

OCR is never perfect. Some OCR apps are much better than others, however,
and the ones that come with scanners are never the best.
