Changing computer name

Do you lose information on a computer that you rename on a network when
using Windows 2000? After renaming the computer I tried to find information
on this computer and I don't seem to find it. If so, how can the files be
retrieved?

Renaming a PC will do nothing other than rename it.
Your files might be located in a profile folder other
than the one where you are looking. Use the Search
function (Start / Search) to locate them.
