changing bg color

Hi... I've read the post about changing bg color when a value is entere
but that applies on the same cell, problem is I don't know how t
change bg color of another cell when a value is entered in anothe
cell.
Anybody??

This would still be conditional formatting. In this case, Select your target
cell, change condition 1 to Formula Is and add a formula of say =A1=17,
select the pattern tab and choose the colour.

could be also done using conditional formating. An example: Say you
want to color cell B1 if cell A1 equals to 5:
- select cell B1
- goto 'format - Conditional Format' and enter the formula
=A1=5
- choose your format
