Windows Vista does not have a system dictionary, this is an issue related to
Microsoft 'Office Word', try posting the issue in the appropriate newsgroup:
microsoft.public.word.spelling.grammar

Open windows Mail.
Click Tools > Options.
Click the Spelling tab.
Click the "Edit Custom dictionary" button

Ok
Try browsing to:
C:\Users\%UserName%\Application Data\Microsoft\Proof

and see if it's there.

Actually it should be here in vista:
C:\Users\&UserName&\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Proof

I just booted into Vista to double check.

I believe that I mis-typed....and then let my mouse button slip...and
erroneously entered a number of mis-spelled word as "add to dictionary" in
my custom dictionary.

I cannot find the dictionary listing to verify what I may have mis-typed.
Using WORD I can get to a dictionary...but..it doesn't show any listings..
It would allow me to find and perhaps remove an erroneously spelled
word,...but I'd have to know what words I mistyped first??? . Any help
appreciated. thanks Rich

From my memory, it is a text file within the actual Windows Mail folder
within the Microsoft folder, and not Proof. I could be wrong, but I do not
think so, as I have my entire Windows Mail store folder on a different
RAID-1 partition. I am unable to check right now.

Your date or timezone is incorrect.

Windows Mail (therefore Vista) does indeed have spell check, which "must"
use a dictionary - somewhere. The spell check is off by default in Windows
Mail.

But, as you say - if the person has Office installed the computer, Office
will use it's dictionary as the dictionary of choice.

Thanks, Steve...but..in Windows Mail ( now that I have VISTA) ..."Edit
custom dictionary" doesn't exist. ?? What an improvement all of this
is...ha ha ha Rich

UserDictionary.lex is in my D:\My Files\Windows Mail folder. This is the one
created when you add words to the spell check in Windows Mail. Yes, I am
using a custom mail folder.
