Change view default for windows explorer

Hi everyone,

How do I permanently change the view in Explorer to show
file details. I can go to the pull-down menu to change
the view for a single folder and only temporarily. How
do I set the default so that the detail view is always
used?

But what if you don't want other folders changed to that
setting. I also have the problem of View settings not
being maintained. I don't want every folder using the same
view.
