I want that tooltips should be displayed for 10 seconds instead of the currently set 3 seconds. How do I do it in Windows 2000 Professional? Here's another petty question - right-clicking the title bar (having Minimize, Restore/Maximize & Close buttons) of any window usually pops-up a shortcut menu listing the Restore, Move, Size, Minimize, Maximize & Close options but the same doesn't happen in the RegEdit window i.e. the shortcut menu doesn't appear! Why?

Thanks,

Arpan

We are in January of 2004 not February.

Please FIX !

Dave

Doesn't happen for me, either -- not that I'd ever noticed before, or that
it bothers me much. Could this be a service pack or patch level issue?

"Why are you guys picking on Arpan"; he just doesn't know the rule about setting his clock ahead, and posting in HTML (like some others that get snockered).

Arpan, let me get it straight; when you post later than you should, the help gets upset and this close to the New Year, they start breaking New Year's resolutions less than a month into the year, because they all think a month has passed and it's perfectly okay to do just that. One thing I can assure you of though, they will not give you an answer that will cause you or your computer harm. That's basically, because they love computers. the just don't like smart arses, so what happens is that they bitch a little, and, yes, break a resolution that they promised their spouses, and now their partners in life are breathing up their kesters. And do you know what is like, when they have a headache every time the old thumb is standing at attention? Their harmones get out of balance quickly, and well, this means that the rest of get to hurt as we lurk and try to help others who are really nice and deserving. And the reason I am writing to explain, is to keep from committing infidelity this early, because that was my resolution.

Am I making any sense? Would you kindly fix your clock? It is all too easy to create havoc with any DNS this early. Again, these guys are edgie now. Just apologize and try to get it right after this. Oh, BTW, take the personality check below.

Gosh I hope not. Windows 2000 Server SP3. The system menu works just fine in regedit and regedt32.

Gary the only flaw I know of in Windows 2000 that is similar (there might be more) is in regedt32. Try it. Start | Run | regedt32 | OK | Choose any key | Edit | Add key.. | Help | OK | Cancel. You'll see the error.

Hmm, that's odd. I get the same lack of result as does Arpan win the RefEdit
window. Not that I particularly give a shit. I'm at SP3. What level of
service pack are you at, George?

The question was about RegEdit. When I open the program and right-click
on the title bar, nothing happens. With most other programs,
right-clicking on the title bar brings up the system menu, just as
left-clicking on the icon at the left end of the title bar does. I don't
regard this as particularly significant, but it is peculiar.

Is the flaw that no help appears? That's what happens when I try this.

Oh OK yes mine doesn't work either. Just do a left-click on the system menu icon. But yes don't know why it is different then other window. Hmmm...

No I actually get an error. It is:

Title: HTML Help Author Message

HH_HELP_CONTEXT called without a [MAP] section.

What this means is that the chm this is trying to access was not made correctly. The chm was missing a header file when the chm was compiled or the header was included but the entry for the [MAP] section was left out of the Window definition for the project. In other words it was a poor HTML Help author.

I AM INDEED VERY VERY SORRY FOR THE WRONG DATE TO ALL THOSE EXPERTS WHO POINTED MY MISTAKE. TO BE HONEST, IT WAS COMPLETELY UNINTENTIONAL; NOT AT ALL DELIBERATE. THIS WON'T BE REPEATED.

SORRY ONCE AGAIN.

WISH YOU ALL A HAPPY & PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR!!

THANKS,

REGARDS,

Arpan

Interesting. I get nothing at all. Most likely the difference is a
result of some patch that one of us has and the other doesn't. My
experience so far suggests that every patch introduces a new problem or
re-introduces an old one, so I've been very slow to install any that I
don't know for sure I need.
