change the font colour in a validated drop-down list?

I want to change the font colour in a cell ( Excel 2003) this needs to be in
a validated drop-down list.
I have tried formatting the cell, changing the fill colour, changing font
colour, changing the background colour but to no avail.

would be most grateful for any assistance!
