Change task bar icon appearance?

XP Home perversely uses identical task bar icons for my
LAN connection and dial-up network connection. One user in
the house sometimes heads for the wrong one, which leads
to the LAN being inadvertently closed on the Host, leaving
the internet connection open for hours upstairs on the
Client.
Right clicking to find Properties etc...does no good
because the task bar icons are not like desktop icons and
have no access to "Properties". Nor can I find the
executable for the DUN or LAN connection and associate it
with a different icon, because I don't know what the file
is called.
Can anyone help please?
(BTW, this member of the family also found it difficult to
hear me whenever I tried to make helpful suggestions about
parking a car in a confined space)

Thanks for the help Anando. How daft of MS to use the same
icon for similar applications that are likely to be
running concurrently!

A possible workaround: Send the network icon for the internet connection to
the desktop as a shortcut. Right click and rename the shortcut Internet (or
something to distinguish it as the online connection). Drag it to the Quick
Launch bar.

1) If there's ever any doubt about which icon is which, hovering over the
one in Quick Launch with the mouse will show "Internet" (or whatever name
you used) in the tooltip.

2) When it's time to disconnect from the internet, click once on the icon
in the Quick Launch bar. Then click the Disconnect button in the screen
that appears.
