change startup pic

Can anyone tell me where to go to change the startup and possibly also shut
down pics in Windows XP. For earlier windows versions a program called
multimedia xplorer did it, but what now?

You can change it using a program called bootxp. you can
also change your welcome screen using a program style xp,
both must be purchased after a trial period however
