Change "Save As" default file type

When I save a message using "Save As", the file type always defaults to Rich
Text Format (*.rtf), even after I've just saved an item as Message Format
(*.msg). Is there any way to change the default "Save As" file type in
Outlook? I've been down every conceivable path in the Tools/Options menu.

Thanx.

You would think Outlook would allow this. No Outlook Express defaults to .eml
files and OE is the free program..... I would be nice to just hit the "Save"
button without going thru the "Save As' routine.

Just my thoughts.

What does Outlook Express's behavior have to do with it?

Nothing, I'm just stating that with OE (a free application) the save feature
is defaulted to save in .eml that's all.

If you want to save an item in Outlook as a .msg file, just drag it from
Outlook to a Windows folder.

If you want to save an item inOutlookas a .msgfile, just drag it fromOutlookto a Windows folder.

Drag And drop gives the wrong file date time stamp: it is allway set
to ' now' ! And it gives mostly a stupid file name (subject.msg).
Besides I get RSI from drag and drop..

Maybe the solution is a little Outlook Add-in.
Check www.slipstick.com for more tools, or www.archiving-email.com
With such a tool you can save every email as msg file, you can even
archive more email in a time.

Yeah, you said that once already.
