I have resieved messages from emails I've sent with my
resume attached requesting I resend it in word format,
they could not open my email. The resume is currently on
microsoft works word processor.

Works uses a proprietary format that is not readable
by Microsoft Word. If you use Works to create the
resume, save it as .RTF (Rich Text Format) and send
using a .RTF extension.

WORKS can save in a universal format Rich Text (rtf) and
most versions of WORKS allow you to save as .doc WORD format
although you won't have all the functionality of WORD, WORD
will be able to open it. Look at your File/save as command
to see what you options are.

Either get hold of a copy of Office on some machine available to you and
run its setup to include the Converter/Filters for Text - Works 2000 and
Works 4.0 (Frankly they should have this but you can't very well say
so), then read it in and save in Word format;

or else save it from Works in RTF (Rich Text Format) which they *should*
be able to read.

I'd second that - RTF is reasonably universal.

Of course, if they don't need to edit it, there's always CutePDF, which will
let you "print" the file in a very common Adobe PDF format. Free, by the
way.

If you have to ask if your copy of XP is 32 or 64 bit, it's 32.
