How do I change a folder name in 'Documents and Settings'?

-WINDOWS XP (C:)
-Documents and Settings
+Administrator
+All Users
+Default User
+Vincent <------THIS ONE!!!

I want to get rid of 'Vincent' and have my name their.

I purchased a laptop that was a returned unit, and the
previous owner had already run through the initial Windows
setup wizards so their name is already in use for the 'My
Documents' folders, and windows won't let me rename it.

I changed user names in 'User Accounts' and I am the
Administrator.

XP or Home Edition... You need to right click the folder and go to security
tab...

Can't recall on Home Edition if you have to click something first to enable
the security tab...

I'm working on Win2000 right now can't say.. but you can remove the user and
add your own under there...

If you are the only user, you should be part of administrators, so you would
only need to remove that user from the folder I believe.

1st of all you don't want to use the Administrator as your everyday login
account.
The Admin is designed as a failsafe way into windows should your user count
become inoperable for some reason.
Under Control Panel | Users Create a user account in your name and give it
Administrator rights.
Then you can delete the user account "Vincent" the same way.

First of all you need to create 2 user account one in your name(jeff) and
another say called X
You then need to log in a X
open MYComputer/properties/advanced....UserProfiles/settings
there you should see all of the users including Vincent...Jeff and X
Highlight Vincent and click copy to
Browse to C:\documents&settings\Jeff and click OK
OK your way out
All Vincents settings have now been moved over to JEFF
Log on as Jeff and check to be sure...make sure Jeff has Administrative rights.
If all is working ..........delete Vincent under control panel/user accounts
You can also delete X

You can't change the folder name. You have to create a new user, name it
what you want, and delete the old user.

Wow a ton of answers and none of them have it right. To "Change the Registered Owner in XP" go>start\run and type in regedit and click ok or hit enter on your keyboard. Now click the + symbols in the following order. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion Now click on the CurrentVersion key to highlight it and open the sub keys in the right panel. Now right click on RegisteredOwner and then click modify and type in your name. Then do the same for RegisteredOrganization if you want. I set mine to home. Click you way out of here and there you have it. Good luck.

don't respond to me.. lol.
