does Comcast support pop3 and SMTP? if so, they should have a how to page
for configuring accounts in it or Outlook Express - the steps are similar
but the dialogs will be different.

There is no comparison of MS Outlook to comcast.net. One (MS Outlook) is an
email client. The other (comcast.net) is the email service part of an ISP
(Comcast Cable Internet, or whatever it is officially called).
You can access Comcast either by using a browser to reach their web
interface, or by configuring an email client (MS Outlook) to access their
POP3 server. Have a look here:
Scan down the page; look for either "Outlook" (if you are truly using MS
Outlook), or "Outlook Express" (if you are actually using MS Outlook
Express).
