change email address for incoming and out mail

I use "earthlink.net" as my incoming & outgoing mail on my outlook 2003. I am
thinking to switch earthlink by other free email like hotmail or gmail, but
don't know why. Your help is very much appreciated.

Sorry, I mean "how" not "why". I've been trying to find out HOW to change my
email server from "earthlink" to "hotmail" or "gmail". I finally found out
that I can access hotmail via outlook, but haven't been able to access gmail
via outlook. Thanks for your comment.

The instructions for configuring a POP/SMTP client are on gmail's web site.
