Change DNS name and suffix - win2k AD

I need to change my DNS name and suffix on a Windows 2000 Active Directory
from ABC.com to XYX.local.

Is this possible without having to completely rebuild my AD?

Thanks.

No it is not. You'll have to build a new domain (then use ADMT), or roll it
back to NT4, upgrade to Win2k, then promote with the different name.

There are commercial tools out there tha claim to ba able to do this,
although I've not tried it myself. I don't remember what they are, but I've
found them with a web search in the past.

Windows 2003 supports changing the domain name without having to rebuild it.
I would suggest reading the following article so that you are familar with
all the requirements. (Windows 2000 AD does not support doing this.)

If your still running in mixed mode you can use the old server manager to
add a 4.0 DC and roll back then upgrade again. But I feel that upgrading to
2003 and renaming to be far easier to accomplish.
