I have windows xp with service pack 2. Recently when accessing a
picture image sent via the internet, I do the following:

right click on the image on the internet screen
choose "save image as" choose location and image type (I choose
jpeg)

however, when endeavoring to open and view the image, the computer
automatically chooses Msft Excel instead of an image or picture viewing
application.

How do I change the default application from Msft Excel to an
application that will view the image.? Quite obviously, Excel does not
view images.

Also, what is the name of the image viewing program accessory that
comes with XP?

all replies, opinions, discourses, etc. welcomed!

Start by emptying your Internet temp cache, in Internet Explorer, tools,
Internet Options, delete files.

Right-click any .jpg image, properties, opens with... change.
The native viewer is the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer.
If it doesn't work for you it maybe it needs to be registered or re-registered
Do this,
Start, run, type
regsvr32 shimgvw.dll
There is a space between the 2 and s.
