Change Default font for Reports template 2003-2007

Jacqueline

I am working on a project that requires I build a number of sub reports that
are then incorporated into a master report. I am spending a lot of time
changing fonts size color etc to match the master.

Is there a way to change the default font for reports and forms? In the
Access options there is a place to change the Query and datasheet defaults,
but for reports and forms it refers to the "Normal" template. I don't want to
mess with that field as I can't find where it is housed and don't want to
break it, at this point... too much to do to mess around right now.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Jacqueline

Hi Jacqueline,

Format an apprioriate control as you want. Then in Access 2003 choose
Format, Set Control Defaults. Or in Access 2007, on the Controls part of the
Report Design Tools/Design ribbon click on the icon just to the left of the
"Use Controls Wizards" item.

Clifford,
I am working within 2007 but saving the db as 2003 so it will function
correctly within the SQL Server 2005 environment. Is that twisted or what?

I am working with the ribbons but cannot find where you have directed me. I
would like to set the universal defalt for all new reports so I don't have to
change each report indiviually. Is there a way to do that?

I hate what they have done to the help files, you can't find anything anymore!
Thanks
Jacqueline

Hi Jacqueline,

It may be less obvious in 2007 if you have an narrower screen. It is
the icon in the middle of second column and second row of the third grouping
of items in the Controls portion of the Design ribbon of the Report Design
Tools group. It has a wrench and a hammer criss-crossed with a little box of
some sort on the bottom right.

However, that does indeed only change the control default for the
current report. I am not sure if there is a way to change the global
default. But you could open up an existing report that you have formatted as
you want and on the Arrange ribbon choose AutoFormat, then AutoFormat Wizard.
Click on Customize and then Create a new format based on the Report 'report
name' and then on OK. Give it a new name and click OK 2x. Now, when you use
the Report Wizard you can choose that new format. Or if you have an existing
report, you can click on the AutoFormat and then AutoFormat Wizard and then
choose the one you created.

Hope that helps,

Clifford Bass

arpi,
When you set the font for a any control,
(text, label, combo, etc... etc...)
select that control, and then select Format - Set Control Defaults.
That will set the default format for that type of control for that
report ONLY.
Say you design a report, (ex. rptTemplate) and you have all the
controls formatted just as you want.
In the Tools-Options-Forms/Reports, put rptTemplate in the
Report Template.
Now... every new report will apply the rptTemplate formats to
your new report controls.
