Challenge with Copying =TRIM Formula

J

jlajoie

When trying to copy the =TRIM formula, the cell references do no
change, but the column and row references are not absolute. I canno
figure this out...

For example:

Cell A1: (the space I want to trim)Jennifer
Cell B1: =TRIM(A1) (Jennifer appears with the J as the first character
the space is gone).

Cell A2: (the space I want to trim)George
Cell B2: Formula copied from above =TRIM(A1), but "Jennifer" appear
as the text!

The formula won't recalculate using the relative cells.

Help - I've got a HUGE mail mere with all of these extra spaces!!!

Thanks

Hi
how does the formula look like in B2?
=TRIM(A2)
if yes your autocalculation is probably disbaled. Try hitting F9 if
this changes the result goto 'Tools - Options - Calculation' and enable
'automatic calculation'
