CGI Mailto Form Error

B

Brian Smith

Is there an IE tools/options setting that would keep a computer from
submitting a CGI Mailto form?

Upon submitting a form to an EarthLink-hosted Website, I get NOT the
intended THANKURL page but rather a "bad referer" error that reads...

"Sorry, this CGI is only available to sites hosted with EarthLink, Inc."

This particular site is absolutely, positively -- and for darn sure --
hosted with EarthLink. I should know since it's my own site I'm talking
about. EarthLink has been NO help whatsoever.

Importantly, when using computers OTHER than my own, the form works
flawlessly (sending the data as it's supposed to do, and taking me happily
to the THANKURL page). This means I have likely created a righteous form
that most everyone but me can use.

Back to my computer, the same error occurs even when using Firefox.

Temporarily disabling virus protection and the software firewall has not
helped. I'm not willing to even temporarily bypass the router.

All's well. It turned out to be a software firewall problem after all.
Earlier, I didn't COMPLETELY disable it.

E'Link's email support people finally got back to me with good information,
unlike the phone support side.

The error message itself is seriously misleading.
