After I insert the lexar 512 mb card in the compact flash slot of my
thinkpad, windows recognizes the new hardware as PCMCIA ATA/ATAPI drive
but doesn't create any drive letter for it. The same card works in the
digital camera without any problems (not a problem with the card).

please help

thanks

I have a Lexar USB 2.0 card reader and they just released an
flash update so it could support the xD 512 MB cards,
perhaps you should check on www.leaxarmedia.com for any
updates to your model.

Assign it a drive letter. Right click on My Computer, select Manage. On
the following screen, click on Disk Management. It should appear on the
right hand side of the screen from where you can assign a drive letter.
