CF boot problem

/Lelle

I have two different CF cards, a VIKING 256 MB and a Memorex 128 MB
card.My attempts to have them boot with XPE ends with failure all the
time. When I look in Windows diskmanager they booth shows up as
Removable. Is that wrong? In BIOS they are simply Hardrives. I use a
IDE converter.

Thanks in advance

Do you have working build that has passed FBA on HDD?

More info about failure would be good.

Also you need to put boot loader to CF.
use format from Windows XP.
Or use bootprep from dos.

Also if you want to use EWF, you will probably need to mark then as
non-removable.

OK The manufacterer of my CF card says that the card is
non removable so that seems to be ok now. On my PC I have
one SCSI disk with three partitions and the CF card
inserted in IDE converter connected to the IDE primary
master channel. On the SCSI disk partiton 2 I have a
working XPE installed. I boot it with NT multi bootloader.
My boot.ini looks like this:

[boot loader]
timeout=10
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT
[operating system]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Win 200
prof" /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)
\WINDOWS "XPE" /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(0)\WINDOWS "XPE
CF" /fastdetect

The two first rows is my SCSI partitions. The last row is
my CF card. When I try to boot it the following error
message appears:
Can't find <Windows>\system32\hal.dll
I think it has to do with my boot.ini or? If I can have
this to work next step my be to have the CF card to boot
by it self without the SCSI disks.

What do you think?

For beginning partition(0) is invalid number.
also you need sign =.

I don't know about scsi disks but shouldn't they be enumerated differently.
Probably not since you can boot Win 2000.

Also if you want partition(2) to have XPe - You will need to change
ntloader. ntdetect in root of SCSI disk. also again you need =

This is for now.

You are completely right about the ARC path. The missing
parts is not missing in my orignial boot.ini file. That
was untidy. OK I will solve the boot problem first before
the real problem can be solved. Thank you for all help so
far.
