When I installed the 824141 hotfix for Windows XP SP1, it
appears that whenever I try to open certain TTF files,
Font Viewer gives out the error message saying that the
requested file was not a valid font file. I had to
uninstall the hotfix just to get the fonts to work again.
Is anyone else having the same problem?

Some of the fonts that Windows complains about are:
Saint Clair
Saint Clair Light, and some others
Even the files on the installation CD-ROM are claimed
invalid.
I think that some of these fonts are Windows 3.1-era
(early 1990s), since the font preview program on the CD
runs on Windows 3.1

Fonts are actually tiny programs. So if you have some very old fonts
that worked well with Win3.1, they may just not work well in WinXP.
Find others that are similar and that you like. There are thousands
available free and for a small cost on line.
