Hi all,

Would anyone know if there is a policy setting in GPO that allows for
forcing users' computers to shutdown after being idle for a period of time?
Or does that need to be done via 3rd party software?

Thx,

There is no group policy that would do this, I don't even think that's a
very good idea anyway. Hibernation might be an option instead though.
What you could perhaps use is the winexit.scr screensaver that will lock a
screen after a certain amount of idle time. If you really do want to power
off a PC after an idle period you could apply a GPO that would configure
power management settings to shut down the hard drives. Such a policy can be
downloaded here http://www.energystar.gov/index.cfm?c=power_mgt.pr_pm_ez_gpo

Thanks Simon,
I will give it a try.
