centering screen

I just recently had my computer worked on, I have a 17"
monitor and when I got it back, my active screen doesn't
fill up the whole area. There is black on the right and
bottom. I can't make my screen buttons work to move it,
nor will my mouse click on the edge and drag. My monitor
is a SyncMaster. Any suggestions?
