Cells Protection

In Excel Templates, there is a template sales invoice.

That template has protection that some cells are selectable but some cannot
even be selected. If we click on that cell, it does nothing even with the
double click!

what is this protection?

I tried to protect my document but either it makes all the cells
un-selectable or all the cells are selectable but yes, the data of these
cellls is proteced.

How can i protect my document same as i mentioned above that the protected
cells should not even be selectable.

Thanks and Regards..

Two things have to be done to get this effect.
For the cells that you do want to be able to use once the sheet is
protected, you have to choose them (one at a time or as a group or groups)
and use
Format | Cells | [Protection] and clear the checkbox next to "Locked".

After that is done, use Tools | Protection | Protect Sheet and in the list
of options, clear the checkbox next to "Select Locked Cells". Make sure that
the checkbox next to "Select Unlocked Cells" is checked.

If using Excel 2002 or newer when you select Tools>Protection>Protect Sheet you
are given a dialog in which you can select options to set.

Enable "select unlocked cells" and disable "select locked cells".
