Cells and Spacers

I now understand why i couldnt reize my cells to less than 19px!

Its because the cells are rendered with a spacer.

I overcome this problem by manually removing the & nbsp;

This allows me to rezise my cells to the desired, but i still hear people
mention the transparent gif's.

Are these actually needed as you can just remove the & nbsp;

What other benefits to the Gif's hold by using them??

transparent gifs hold the cell/table open so it doesn't minimize smaller than you want it to.
