Cell won't highlight when selected

I have two workbooks that I received from other people. When I open them and
try to select a cell, I can't tell which one is selected unless I look in the
Name Box. Is there an option that I can select so I can tell which one is
selected with the bold line around it as usual?

I have this problem occasionally also. What I've found is that if I select a cell, go to the Home Tab, and in the Styles section click "Normal", selection highlighting returns to normal. If the cell you selected had any formatting, you'll probably have to re-format it.
