When I create an equation in a column...how can I get excel to only show the
number in the cell when I click on it rather than have it show the equation
used to obtain this value?
 
Perhaps the cells are preformatted as TEXT, or your formulas might not have
the equal sign preceeding them.

Do you mean in the Formula Bar? Or right in the cell?

The formula should show in the Formula Bar, the value should show in
the cell. Unless you double click on the cell, which means you are
editing it and the formula should then show in the cell.
