Cell Shading Colors

The standard cell shading colors in excel are solid colors. Does anyone know
if there is a download or software that can be purchased that will give the
option of lighter shading on one side of the cell that would give an
appearance similar to the yellow header used at the top of this page ( Office
Online-discussion group home page). Perhaps this functionality is available
in another program? Any advice on this would be appreciated.
 
As far as I know, there is no way to do this in Excel.
