cell format problems - losing leading zeros in numbers

Hi,

Using Excel 2002.

I am having trouble finding the right cell format to paste a number into
that I get off of normal html web page.

The problem is that I lose the leading zeros

The number may be like this 0083045

so I cut and then past and what I get is 83045

I have tried many cell formatting styles and it doesn't work.

Thanks,

Thanks, I did that,
but it worked one way and not the other

Did work

put in number

0083045

which was then truncated down to
83045

then I formatted cell as CUSTOM 0000000

and it turned into
0083045

Great - and I even paste/brush the format or other similar entries -
however, when I paste/brushed the format onto empty cells and tried to enter
other such numbers it reverted back to the truncated style.

I would like to format the empty cells and then enter the data and have it
appear right without having to go back and brush in the formatting.

Any idea?

Try preformatting as 0000000
Then paste with paste special and select Text instead of HTML
