Cell Font Default Change

NICK

Hi All

I want to change the default font for my Excel
spreadsheets to Times New Roman. I have tried going into
Tools ~ Options ~ General and changing it there and
closing Excel, but all it does is to change the font in
the display type box up the top and not the actual text in
the cells.

Any ideas how to change the default text to Times New
Roman in the actual cells?

Cheers

You need to specify a deafult template with th settings.

Create a new workbook and set up your default settings, then save it a
book.xlt in the XLstart directiory under ..program files/microsof
office/office/xlstart (or similar).

All new workbooks will then have these defaults.

A similar effect can be achieved with worksheet insertiosn if
worksheet is saved sheet.xl

When you change the default font as you did, it affects only new workbooks.

Previously saved books retain their original settings.

Note: the change in Font will also change the Font for row and column headings
for new books and worksheets.

Strange.

When I change the default font to Antique 14 point, close and re-open Excel
and File>New>Blank workbook, I get Antique 14 point(ugly, I might add).

The Book.xlt and Sheet.xlt is a good way to go also if you want.
